The Montessori method has been and is very popular around the world with early childhood professionals and parents. The Montessori approach is designed to support the natural development of children in a well-prepared environment.Among the Montessori Method principles there is a specific attention to the child to whom it is addressed. Recognizing the child’s freedom of choice and his own reaction time, not pushing him to to produce, or force him to show interest/commitment for something already decided by the adult. Instead the Montessori method is focused on the act of paying attention. The verbal approach to the child is crucial (what we say and how we say it), avoid rewards and punishments, praise and threats. This behaviour, etical and professional, is accompanied by a creative organization of the areas where the childs play, eat, sleep, all the proposed activities, custom-made, are simple and attractive.
Like any other social environment made up by people with different needs, also the school, used daily by children, should be made to accommodate persons of age, interests and different needs. For this reason, the arrangement of the furnitures (all made to child measure, in order to enable them to act in autonomy) the activities and the materials proposed, are crucial to the development of their behavior. Each object is chosen as a response to observed needs, placed to allow direct accessibility by children. In addition, each area must be dedicated to a specific activity: drawing, writing, reading, etc. Children who follow a path inspired by the Montessori teaching, are involved in activities that are responsive to the growing needs: motor area, area logic-perceptive, communicative area, relational-affective area(materials are mostly built by the educators). The activities concern also practices of practical life (for example, cleaning, prepare the table where you eat, serve the meal on your own).
These activities help to achieve various goals, such as coordination, awareness of himself and of his being and thus the sense of self-worth, self-care and space, but most allow you to develop an orderly mind
